Williams dumps out Clayton, Wright, Van Duijvenbode and Cross among players into Last 16 at Players Championship 17

The Last 16 line-up has been confirmed at Players Championship 17 with Peter Wright, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Rob Cross and Damon Heta among those through.

Wright averaged only 89 but the fourth seed and current World Number One saw off a ProTour finalist in John O'Shea only just in a 6-5 victory. While for Heta, it was the scalp of rising Northern Irishman, Josh Rock in a 6-5 victory.

As priorly alluded to Simon Whitlock ended the run of Michael Smith in a 6-2 win, but yesterday's finalist Dirk van Duijvenbode produced the second highest average of the round in seeing off Joe Murnan 6-2 with a 101.74 mark.

While Nathan Aspinall topped the standings with 104.02 in easing past Rowby-John Rodriguez. Jonny Clayton though after showing so much promise average wise today fell to one of the top performers on both the ProTour and Challenge Tour this season in Scott Williams 6-5 who took out a brilliant 81 checkout in the decider to seal it. He now faces John Henderson in another welcome run for the popular Highlander.
