Jim Williams is through to the second round on his PDC World Darts Championship debut after seeing off Ted Evetts 3-1 in sets and holding off a comeback as a result.

Williams was 2-0 up and seemingly cruising but saw Evetts who had his downfall on the doubles originally comeback at him and force 'The Quiff' to serve it out.

He did so and claimed it with an 89 average, 43% on the doubles and high checkouts of 130 and 120 and will next face Joe Cullen.

Evetts sat on 0/8 in the first set and Williams took full advantage to sweep the opening set with a 92 average and a high checkout of 130.

Evetts clipped his dart off the barrel going for 80 but Williams did not pounce missing a dart at double 16 only to return anyway as Evetts made it 0/12.

Double two saw Williams break throw and go one away from a 2-0 sets lead. Evetts pinned double three to finally get off the mark and to break at 2-1 down.

Williams missed 101 for the set but Evetts was back to missing darts - this allowed Williams to hit double eight and claim the second set.

Evetts looked to revive his fortunes once more holding throw. A 180 strengthened that as he left 81 on Williams' throw with 'The Quiff' way back leaving 64 hoping for a shot.

Which he didn't get as Evetts pinned the bull to go 2-0 up and he was throwing for a set back.

A 136 leave for 56 saw him do so with Williams now under pressure at 2-1 up in sets and throwing for the match.

'The Quiff' missed the second double 20 for an 82 checkout to hold and Evetts broke with a 68 checkout.

He broke back though on double nine. A 120 checkout on double 20 saw Williams hold and go one away from the match.

A 44 checkout saw Williams move through in the end to complete the comeback.
