Williams jokes on playing Chisnall at Baltic Sea Darts Open: "I'd rather take him on in a spelling competition"

Hitting back-to-back 12-darters to win, it was a pleasing start to the Baltic Sea Darts Open for Lewy Williams who saw off Dennis Nilsson 6-3.

Williams spoke afterwards and was glad to put form struggles behind him and move through with an impressive display.

"I've been struggling a bit recently to be honest to find where my form is at. I've been having one good game then one bad game. So to have a game like that which is my highest average of the season, it's a good one to take because I feel like I started off really well," said Williams to Dartnyheder.dk.

"I dipped in the middle so I thought I'm going back into my old habits then towards the end of the game, I thought right buck up your ideas and go from there. Then I started picking up in the 180's, my finishing was really good so I'm really happy to get over the line there.

Next up is Dave Chisnall, a player who he is full of respect and admiration for which will go out the door.

"I'd rather take him on in a spelling competition than a darts match," he joked. "I love Chizz to bits, I'm really good mates with Chizzy and he's a top lad and on his day, he is literally one of the top darts players in the world. I've got so much respect for him, tomorrow there can't be any respect on the oche."
