58-year-old Beaton produces his highest stage average after beating two-time world champion Lewis

Halfway through 2022, Steve Beaton still had to fear for retaining his PDC Tour Card, but by now 'The Bronzed Adonis' seems to be in better shape than ever.

The 58-year-old Beaton beat Adrian Lewis (6-2) in the Baltic Sea Darts Open on Friday night and did so with his highest ever stage average. The 1996 world champion recorded an average of 106.10.

Seven months ago, Beaton also managed to hit his highest average as a professional. In a Pro Tour match (without cameras ed.), he threw an average of 118.19.

Beaton is also enjoying a strong period in terms of results. At the end of 2022, he was in a Players Championship final, and moreover, Beaton is in good position to qualify for the prestigious World Matchplay again for the first time since 2020.
