Wright began proceedings and despite only an 88.2 average and 24 percent on the doubles from the World Champion, 'Snakebite' claimed a 6-2 victory over Ryan Murray which saw the latter go six darts into a perfect leg in the final leg but this wasn't enough to claim a late foothold in the contest.
The next tie was also a match of missed doubles with Cristo Reyes getting over the line in a last-leg decider against Jelle Klaasen despite the Spaniard missing 20 darts at doubles in the contest with 'The Cobra' himself missing 10, it could be said though that for Reyes, his power scoring was a potential game changer with 12 140's overall.
Klaasen though didn't have to wait long for his first points of the night seeing off Ryan Murray in a low quality affair which saw an 82 average to 76.3 in a 6-4 victory.
This saw the duo make it 4-4 and the former World Champion surged to victory and eliminated the Scot as a result who coming into tonight was one of the surprise packages in the tournament.
