Peter Wright has claimed the title on Day Four of the PDC
Winter Series with victory over Jose de Sousa 8-7 in the final.
Wright was 6-4 up with a break but De Sousa came back to send it all the way but 'Snakebite' proved too strong in the end sealing the deal in a decider.
De Sousa began by taking the lead with a 100 checkout but missed two darts at double and Wright broke to make it 1-1 with a 12-darter. He held to make it 2-1 but De Sousa went to the madhouse to make it 2-2.
De Sousa hit a 180 and finished it off on double 16 to break throw from there and take the lead at 3-2 up. He wired a dart at double 20 though and Wright broke back on the same target to make it 3-3.
It was back-to-back legs for Wright and seemingly a change of darts as he made it 4-3. De Sousa though continued to make it parity at 4-4 with double two claiming it.
Wright continued to keep the lead at 5-4 up and further kept his claims up for the title as he pinned double 12 to make it 6-4 and break the throw.
A hold on double 20 saw 'Snakebite' go one away. De Sousa had an excellent leg on his own throw but was still forced to pin six with Wright putting the pressure on with a 180.
A 180 from De Sousa saw him down to 86 after a slow start for Wright on his throw to win. He pinned it to claim a break back as he looked to make it parity.
Wright couldn't capitalise on a small lapse from De Sousa and 'The Special One' pinned a 180 and 25 to force a decider.
But a 140, 180 followed by a 100 checkout saw Wright claim it on his own throw as he survived the late comeback.
