The first semi-final on Night 13 of
Premier League Darts action will see
Michael Smith face
Peter Wright after two contrasting ties to begin proceedings in Leeds.
Smith was utterly superb against Chris Dobey who will continue to lament his luck as despite averaging 100, he only sealed one leg as 'Bully Boy' won 6-1.
In this win, he produced a superb 105.6 average and five 180's to storm through to the semi-finals.
But despite not being the same average wise, it was Wright's win over
Michael van Gerwen which is the big story.
After being dumped out last week in Graz averaging in the 70's against Mensur Suljovic, Wright has been having some form woes but so has Van Gerwen as of late.
'The Green Machine' was whitewashed by Josh Rock last weekend and now sees his seemingly unassailable lead atop the Premier League Darts table in doubt.
Once again, it was the doubling for 'Mighty Mike' who missed 11 darts at the outer ring and was punished by Wright who sealed a 6-3 win with a 97.5 average.
It is now onto home turf in Leeuwarden after tonight and he will hope a repeat of Rotterdam doesn't occur where MVG lost early to Nathan Aspinall. All eyes now are on Gerwyn Price as he looks to top the table.
