Peter Wright has ended Michael Smith's three-match winning run in the Premier League in a 7-4 victory to begin proceedings at the Premier League in Liverpool.

Wright hit a 100.7 average and five 180's en route to victory as he goes currently up to third place level on points with 'Bully Boy' with Michael van Gerwen and Nathan Aspinall behind him still to play.
Smith claimed first blood in the tie hitting a 180 and double ten. Wright hit his first 180 and finished 65 to make it 1-1 and from there he broke the throw to hit the front in the tie.
From there he wrestled command of proceedings upping his average to 101 as he went 4-1 up. He sunk double eighteen to go 5-1 up.
Smith stopped the rot as such as he went 5-2 behind with a 13-darter with Wright missing double 18 for a 156 checkout.
Wright from there squandered more match darts but already was assured of a point as Smith kept the match alive at 6-3.
He broke to peg it back to 6-4 behind as he looked for a draw but he couldn't do it as Wright broke back in the requisite leg to move past the St Helens ace.
