Wright reels off four sets in a row to complete comeback win over Heta at PDC World Darts Championship

Peter Wright is into the Last 16 of the 2021/22 PDC World Darts Championship where he will face Ryan Searle after producing an incredible comeback to down Damon Heta 4-2 in sets.

Wright was 2-0 down and changed his darts back and he soon flourished as he reeled off four sets in a row to complete the win with a 102 average, six 180's and a high checkout of 161.

Wright’s change of darts was once again backfiring to begin the tie as Heta coasted to the opening set 3-1 and he was soon 2-0 down as Heta took out 84 in the deciding leg to double his lead.

‘Snakebite’ finally returned to his gold Element darts and took out 161 to halve the deficit and make it 2-1 behind in sets. He broke and took out 115 to go 2-0 up in the requisite set as he suddenly looked at parity.

A 78 checkout saw Heta hold as he stopped the rot of sorts as he looked to break to force a decider. A 140 left 80 in case Wright couldn’t pin 92 but he did to claim the set and make it 2-2.

Heta missed the bull for a 164 to break on return and Wright pinned double 20 for the lead for the first time. He pinned it to break and go one away from a 3-2 sets lead.

He pinned double five and he was suddenly one set away from victory. An 86 checkout with Heta sat on 36 saw Wright go 1-0 up and he held throw to go one away.

He wrapped it up on double 18 as he sealed an almighty comeback against the Aussie ace.
