Peter Wright is through to the final of the 2021
Players Championship Finals in Minehead and will play for the title for the first time against Ryan Searle after seeing off Jonny Clayton 11-6.
A dominant display mostly from Wright who saw Clayton hit back towards the end but ultimately to no avail as he will aim to add another part to his collection later on.
Wright began with a 2-0 lead before Clayton got off the mark with a 100 checkout. He missed three at double 12 though and Wright was back for a 3-1 lead.
This was extended to 4-1 at the break. On return, his dominance was further clear as he hit a 156 checkout to go 5-1 up on Clayton.
A 7-1 lead was set for Wright with a 76 checkout and at the interval, he pounced on two missed darts at double 12 from Clayton to make it 8-2.
It was simple for Wright who broke again to edge closer at 9-2 up and followed that up with another to hit back after Clayton had cancelled it out and he was 10-3 up.
He couldn't complete the feat though with Clayton finally waking up and going 10-5 behind and looking to mount a late but unlikely revival.
It was three legs on the spin for Clayton to make it 10-6 but it was too much of a mountain to climb as Wright sealed the deal.
