It is still around four months until the latest edition of the PDC
World Darts Championship. This year again, the field of participants will compile 96 players with 32 from the Order of Merit, 32 from the ProTour version and 32 International Qualifiers.
Gerwyn Price is the defending champion at the upcoming PDC World Darts Championship but it is unclear whether or not he will be the World Number One/top of the seeds.
Due to money coming off mainly from the Grand Slam of Darts, he will be massively under pressure and
Peter Wright provisionally could take the World Number One spot.
But due to him defending his World Championship win, he will be firmly under pressure after the tournament finishes himself.
Dimitri van den Bergh will currently sit fourth in the seeding behind
Michael van Gerwen. An important position for the automatic Premier League spot.
Further down, Rob Cross's slide will continue with 'Voltage' slated to reach 26th by the Alexandra Palace. On the flipside, Dirk van Duijvenbode is set to head towards the top 16.
Currently the final players qualified include Chris Dobey, Jermaine Wattimena and Jeffrey de Zwaan.
Mensur Suljovic who didn't play at the World Matchplay for personal reasons currently sits 29th and could himself be under pressure to qualify.
Currently topping the ProTour ranks is Damon Heta ahead of Ross Smith, Callan Rydz and a return for
Raymond van Barneveld - who is set for a big return at the Alexandra Palace after famously retiring two years ago after losing to Darin Young.
Scott Mitchell is also set for his debut at the World Championship in his first year currently sitting fifth in the provisional spots. The same can be said for Alan Soutar down in 8th.
It will also be an important World Championship for
Steve Beaton (12th) and
Adrian Lewis (13th) who could slide further towards the trap door that is the top 64 if they can't recapture their form.
Three players who are not Tour Card holders are also set to qualify with Rusty-Jake, Rowby-John Rodriguez and Chas Barstow making up the numbers and performing well enough to sit in the provisional spots.
Ricky Evans, Ted Evetts, Joe Murnan and Boris Krcmar are the final players currently qualified from the top 32.
This means currently the likes of Max Hopp, Keegan Brown and Jelle Klaasen are not qualified. While Martin Schindler and Lourence Ilagan are the first players through the International Qualifiers.
Further players will come from all regions as well as other routes including the Challenge Tour and Women's Series.
