Wright set to try contact lenses ahead of Premier League: “I’m quite surprised by the verdict”

Peter Wright recently spoke about getting an eye appointment due to his issues wearing glasses during the World Matchplay.

Wright switched to glasses and had success during the PDC Summer Series but ditched them during the showpiece event halfway through his match with Jose de Sousa.

He was told though during his appointment that his eye sight isn’t bad enough to warrant laser eye surgery so despite apprehension, contacts will be used.

“I’m quite surprised by the verdict but I now have three weeks to try and sort this and get used to contacts,” said Wright to Darts World.

“I must be honest, I’m not fond of the idea of putting things in my eyes. I’ve spoken to Michael Smith who wears contacts, I wasn’t planning for this to be the situation. But I can’t keep playing with blurry vision.

“I have no idea why it suddenly came on that my eyesight worsened during the lockdown. I tried the glasses at the Summer Series and they weren’t a problem and I won that.”
