Peter Wright has claimed victory over Rob Cross to top Group B ahead of the semi-finals at the Champions League of Darts.
It was a high quality encounter between the pair with seven 180's a piece and the difference came with 6/9 on the doubles for 'Snakebite'.
A crazy end on the doubles saw it not go to a decider and Wright will hope to rid himself of any pain he is suffering which he mentioned post match before playing later.
Cross gained the upperhand to start proceedings claiming an early break over Wright on double 14 in a game which in his case didn't mean a lot.
Wright though broke back quickly with a 32 checkout to put proceedings level at the early stage. An 81 checkout which saw Cross finish on double 13 saw him claim an immediate break back. Could 'Voltage' cement his authority?
He couldn't as Wright hit double 20 with Cross sitting on a 100+ finish to win the leg himself. There was finally a hold of throw with Wright hitting double eight to go up 5-4 up.
Wright extended his lead in proceedings by capitalising on a bust from Cross to go 6-4 up and he further edged towards the finishing line at 7-4.
Despite that though, Cross started to play better and made it 6-7 with another break of throw and he had the darts to make it 7-7. This included a 140 checkout from 'Voltage' as he aimed to bring some high octane darts despite him losing out in the group already.
He did so making it 7-7 meaning that it was very much game on. Cross missed two darts at double to break again and Wright held as a result with ease.
Cross hit a 78 checkout to hold his throw and send it firmly to the wire. Wright went one away with Cross missing a 170 checkout.
Cross missed multiple darts to send it all the way and Wright as a result will top the group ahead of the semi-finals.
