Michael van Gerwen discussed Michael Smith after his victory to reach Champions League of Darts semi-finals with a game to spare.

Van Gerwen admitted that he is still mentally weak and that he still has a long way to go in terms of experience compared to himself.
Despite that criticism from 'Mighty Mike', he called him a phenomenal player and said they get on well.
'I think mentally he is still weak, if he was a little bit better and averaged a bit more at the beginning of the game, he could be more on top of me and he didn't do that so it's something to learn from," said Van Gerwen to Live Darts.
'He's still a long way to go, how long has he been playing on TV, five or six years. I've played ten years longer, more match games. I've got experience but don't get me wrong, he's a phenomenal player and I like him as a person, we get on quite well.'
