"You know I'm skipping them": Luke Littler jokes on ProTour status for next week after World Series double header

Luke Littler remains on course for a third title this year at the World Series of Darts. The 17-year-old Englishman defeated Jonny Tata 6-3 in the opening round of the New Zealand Darts Masters.

Littler played a very solid match, posting an average of over 102. 'The Nuke' made it to the final at the Australian Darts Masters last week, but lost to Gerwyn Price 8-1 in that event. "It's always good to get back to winning ways no matter how you do it but I'm happy with that performance. It just didn't happen (against Price), it was just one of those games. You've just got to say well done to the winner and just get on with the next one. I don't really learn from defeat, I just pick myself back up and go again."

Third title

Littler already won two World Series tournaments this year (Bahrain Darts Masters and Poland Darts Masters). "I'd love to win over here. Tick off for August, I'd be very happy to win. I cannot wait to play again."

But he won't play the ProTour next week. He laughed as he stated his plans. "You know I'm skipping them," he continued. Indeed, Littler still has big plans for the second half of the year. "I'd like to pick up another major this year, no matter what it is."
