Gurney reaches last eight at European Championship with victory over Whitlock

Daryl Gurney moved into the quarter-finals at the European Championship. After a one-sided start of the match, he beat Simon Whitlock 10-7.
The Northern Irishman started brilliantly, leading 5-0 with 117 average at the first interval. Whitlock came on the scoreboard in the seventh leg with a 110 checkout for 6-1.
Gurney then rushed into a 9-2 lead, before Whitlock started to grow into the match. With a 148 finish and a 13-dart leg The Wizard came back to 9-7. Superchin woke up and threw an 11-darter for a 10-7 win.

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024

If you want to see crowd passion... watch a match when German and Dutch players face off... that can be just as bad if not worse for crowd noises.
