In the last few days, more and more playing are competing in small tournaments via livestream. Michael van Gerwen is not a fan of this though.

“As a PDC Tour Card holder, we are not allowed to participate in everything. And if that is allowed, then I only consider it when everything is correct. I’m a professional. It has to be good. The connection is often faltering. Moreover, it does not count for anything. That is not for me either, ” said the three-time world champion at

“It’s really just about giving people some entertainment,” he continued. “I prefer to do that in a different way, where money is raised for a good cause. Then it really helps”

For example, MVG utilised his spare time this week to joining star chefs to deliver free meals to hospital staff. “Money had to be collected to cover the costs. I gave some attention to that alongside Marc Lammers. ”

Arrival of second child

Despite the temporary darts break, it is a busy period for Van Gerwen. After all, his second child, son Mike, was born last week. “Tuesday we went for a first walk outside with him. That was really enjoyable. In addition, as usual, I train twice a week with Vincent van der Voort. That is also fun. And it is more challenging than when you throw with just yourself. But I still do that too. I just don’t know. Because I think it will be a while before there are tournaments where everyone can participate again, also because of all kinds of restrictions when it comes to traveling. ”
