At the
WDF World Championship at
Lakeside Country Club, the finals are scheduled today in both the men's and women's tournaments. In the men's tournament, look out for the clash between Dutchman Jimmy van Schie and barely 15-year-old sensation Mitchell Lawrie.
Van Schie could become the fourth Dutchman to grab the world title at Lakeside, previously Raymond van Barneveld, Jelle Klaasen and Christian Kist or it could be the youngest winner ever at
Lakeside or anywhere else for that matter.
Also Lerena Rietbergen will take on Deta Hedman. Hedman finally has the darting dream she has always craved in her fingertips but will she succeed. Before these two finals, finals will be played in the boys' and girls' youth tournament.
The finals in the men's tournament will be played to best-of-11 sets, in the women's it will go to best-of-7 sets. In the boys' youth tournament, it will be played to four winning sets, and in the girls' to three winning sets.

Mitchell Lawrie vs. Florian Preis
The afternoon at Lakeside will be kicked off by the man who will be in action in two finals today, Mitchell Lawrie. After all, the 15-year-old Scot also reached the final in the boys' youth tournament. In it, Lawrie will take on Florian Preis, three years older. The final between Scot Lawrie and German Preis is also the one between the first two series leaders in the youth tournament.
Zehra Gemi vs. Rebecca Allen
The final in the girls' youth tournament is between Zehra Gemi and Rebecca Allen. Gemi is the first Turkish to be in a World Cup final. In the semifinals, she somewhat surprisingly defeated defending champion Paige Pauling 2-1. Ireland's Allen, on the other hand, was too strong for Ruby Grey 2-0.
Lerena Rietbergen vs. Deta Hedman
First-seeded Lerena Rietbergen lived up to her reputation and is in the final. The 23-year-old Dutchwoman impressed on the WDF circuit with several titles this year. In the final she will meet the living legend Deta Hedman. The Caribbean Queen' has won just about everything in her career except a world title. The now 66-year-old previously lost three finals, will the fourth be the right one?
Jimmy van Schie vs. Mitchell Lawrie
To conclude the tournament, we get the dream final in the men's tournament between first-seeded Jimmy van Schie and barely 15-year-old tournament sensation Mitchell Lawrie. Both men consistently threw (high) in the 90 average this tournament. The expectation is that we will get a high quality final, where high scores will be followed by spectacular finishes. And why not a nine darter? Van Schie already came close in his semi-final against Sybren Gijbels with seven perfect darts. The only nine darter ever at Lakeside was in 1990 by Paul Lim, will history be written again tonight?
