Benjamin Pratnemer vs. Daniel Bauerdick
Benjamin Pratnemer opens the evening session at Lakeside. The 46-year-old Slovenian, seeded fifth, returns to Frimley Green for a third successive year but is still chasing his first victory on the famous stage. He begins his 2025 campaign against Daniel Bauerdick. The German survived a thriller in round one, edging past Karl Schaefer 3–2 despite facing multiple match darts. Bauerdick now moves into the second round on his WDF World Championship debut.
Lorraine Hyde vs. Emine Dursun
Fresh from her World Masters triumph, Lorraine Hyde enters the WDF World Championship as the second seed. The 35-year-old Scot has managed just one win across her previous three Lakeside appearances, but she’ll hope to set the tone early when she meets Emine Dursun. The Turkish debutant impressed in her opening round, sweeping aside American Paula Murphy 2–0.
François Schweyen vs. Jeffrey Sparidaans
A Belgium–Netherlands showdown follows as François Schweyen takes on Jeffrey Sparidaans. Schweyen reached the semi-finals at last year’s WDF World Championship and is aiming to push even deeper this time. Standing in his way is Sparidaans, the 32-year-old former PDC Tour Card holder, who battled past fellow Belgian Brian Raman in a gripping 3–2 first-round encounter. Another five-setter could easily be on the cards.
Matt Clark vs. Haruki Muramatsu
Matt Clark returns to Lakeside for the first time in 22 years—his last appearance being a 3–1 defeat to Raymond van Barneveld in the opening round of the then-BDO World Championship. Now 57, “Superman” brings a wealth of experience, including six PDC World Championship campaigns. Clark’s opponent is Japan’s Haruki Muramatsu, who has five PDC World Championship appearances to his name and is making his WDF World Championship debut. Muramatsu began strongly, defeating Vince Tipple 3–1 in round one.
Tracy Feiertag vs. Priscilla Steenbergen
Priscilla Steenbergen returns to the Lakeside stage for the second time this week. The 27-year-old Dutchwoman overcame Poland’s Nina Lech-Musialska in the first round and now faces seventh seed Tracy Feiertag. The experienced 52-year-old American has enjoyed a successful domestic season and will be looking to assert her seeding status.
Marcus Maier vs. Sybren Gijbels
The evening concludes with a meeting between two late call-ups to this year’s WDF World Championship. Marcus Maier steps in for David Pallett, who withdrew for personal reasons. As Pallett had been seeded, Maier enters directly into the second round on his Lakeside debut. The German meets Sybren Gijbels, the Belgian reserve replacing Boris Krčmar. Gijbels already has momentum on his side after edging out American Kevin Luke 3–2 in the first round.
