LAKESIDE MOMENTS 🤩 Three in a row for Bristow! One of The Crafty Cockney's greatest moments #LakesideRewind @Winmau
From January 1-9 darts will return to Lakeside. Not the BDO World Championship anymore, but the first edition of the WDF World Championship. In the run up to this event, Dartsnews regularly dives into the archives to look back at some of the memorable matches played in Frimley Green.
Eric Bristow won the BDO World Title in 1980 and 1981 but remained dry for two years afterwards, partly due to his loss in the 1983 World Championship final to qualifier Keith Deller.
In 1984, he finally won his third world title. In very dominant fashion, as he lost only one set during the tournament. On the way to the final Finn Jensen (2-0), Rick Ney (4-0), Peter Locke (5-0) and John Lowe (6-0) were all defeated without losing a set. The Crafty Cockney then beat Dave Whitcome 7-1 in the final.
