John Henderson has won the World Seniors Darts Championship. The 50-year-old Scot defeated Colin McGarry in the final 5-0 on Sunday night at the Circus Tavern.
"I'm absolutely buzzing. I never thought I'd have this feeling in darts again," said a beaming Henderson in his post-match interview. "When I won the World Cup with Peter Wright, I thought that was it for me. But this is right up there with it. Honestly, it means a hell of a lot to me."
Henderson, however, had a difficult start to this World Championship. "The first couple of days I was reach dreadful. I knew there was still something extra left in the tank, but now I feel as though I've played my game and I did all the right things at the right time."
"I'll tell you something this is one of the best things I've ever won in my darts career," Henderson continues, although he admits he doesn't want to be back at the Circus Tavern next year to defend his title. "Ideally no. For obvious reasons, I want to be back on the Pro Tou. That's where I feel as though I should be and hopefully I can get there. But if it's not to be, I've got to come back."
