Robert Thornton makes winning start to title defence as Richie Burnett sees off Keith Deller

Robert Thornton continues to be unbeaten at the World Seniors Darts Championship after victory on Friday afternoon over Martyn Turner.

The reigning, two-time, back-to-back Seniors World Champion was comfortably the better player in his first round tie, racing into a two set lead. Although Turner did get a set on the board on set 3, he couldn't pull off the comeback. Thornton into the next round with a 3-1 win.

Joining the Scot in the second round is former Lakeside champion, Richie Burnett, who only recently lost his PDC Tour Card. The Welshman was pressured early on by Keith Deller, but Burnett's quality eventually showed through as he secured a 3-1 victory.
