Vincent van der Voort will not participate in this year's World Seniors Darts Championship after all. The Dutchman, who was scheduled to debut in the first round on Thursday night against Neil Duff at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet, has had to withdraw from the tournament for medical reasons.
Due to the cancellation of Van der Voort, Duff advances to the last 16 without playing, where he will face the winner of the duel between Richard-Eirig Rowlands and Graham Usher. WSD President Jason Francis expressed his support for Van der Voort. "Everyone at WSD's thoughts go out to Vincent, and we thank everyone for their understanding of the situation. Health is paramount, and we wish Vincent all the best. We hope to see him in a WSD tournament very soon."
Due to the cancellation, the playing schedule for Thursday night has been adjusted. The match between Van der Voort and Duff was originally scheduled for 9 p.m., but will now be replaced by the duel between Kevin Painter and Richie Burnett, which was scheduled to take place earlier in the afternoon.
WSD can confirm that Vincent van der Voort will be unable to compete at this years' BetGoodwin Seniors World Championship.
