Next week, the MODUS Super Series also gets underway for another year's schedule. That kicks off with a so-called "Legends Week" that includes
Vincent van der Voort and
Steve Beaton in action, fresh from their departure off the
PDC Pro Tour.
On the MODUS Super Series, only players who do not have a PDC Tour Card may compete. In the 'Legends Week' no less than twelve big names from the world of darts will compete. This includes Vincent van der Voort, who recently lost his Tour Card and has announced that he will not attempt to regain it for the time being. Van der Voort is playing this tournament as preparation for the World Seniors Darts Championship next month.
Steve Beaton just retired from the professional circuit
Besides Van der Voort, perhaps the most notable name is that of Steve Beaton. The 60-year-old Englishman just announced his retirement from the PDC, but is now focusing primarily on this tournament and then the World Seniors Darts Tour (WSDT) tournaments.
Completing the field of participants in Portsmouth are other big names such as
Martin Adams,
Robert Thornton, Kevin Painter,
Darryl Fitton, Wes Newton, Richie Burnett,
Chris Mason,
Trina Gulliver,
Neil Duff and
Richie Howson.
Games will be played Monday through Friday. Six players eventually qualify for the final session on Saturday.
