The MODUS Super Series is hosting a "Legends Week" this week. After Steve Beaton had already qualified for the Final Stage on Saturday, Neil Duff, Richie Burnett, Darryl Fitton, Richie Howson and Devon Petersen have now joined the legendary 'Bronze Adonis'.
The MODUS Super Series is a weekly tournament with 12 players competing Monday through Friday for a spot in the final group, which takes place on Saturday night. The player who finishes first after three sessions qualifies directly for the final night on Saturday night. On final night, players compete in a small group stage, followed by semifinals and a final to determine the weekly winner.
The competition begins again the following week, with twelve new players competing for the title. After twelve weeks of competition, all weekly winners compete in "Champions Week," which is played every thirteen weeks of play to determine who wins the series and one with the top prize of £20,000.
This week a "Legends Week" takes place. The first group was finished victoriously by Steve Beaton on Wednesday, so he did not have to return to action on Thursday and Friday. The other players competed again in two new groups.
Group B was won particularly easily by Neil Duff. The 52-year-old Northern Irishman, former WDF world champion, did not lose a single match and closed with sixteen points. No less than eight more than the number two, Richie Burnett. Also third in this pool, Darryl Fitton, thanks to a better leg balance than number four Conan Whitehead, may still advance to the Final Stage on Saturday. For Whitehead and Chris Mason, who finished last in this group, the tournament is over.
In Group C, Richie Howson was absolutely unbeatable, winning all his ten matches. Second place went to Devon Petersen, who thus also managed to qualify for the Final Stage. For the other players in this group (Robert Thornton, Wes Newton, Martin Adams and Trina Gulliver) the tournament is over.
The Final Phase will be completed tonight. In two groups of three, the first two players qualify for the semifinals. Afterwards, they will be played in knockout format until there is a winner.
⏸️ WHAT AN ENDING!!! 😱
