Glen Durrant was the main man in the Isle of Man.

The world champion reached two finals in one weekend. In the first, Mark McGeeney pipped him to the Isle of Man Classic title. But Durrant bounced back to claim the Isle of Man Open in some style. His hot streak also featured the second-best average ever seen in a professional game.
Three 11-darters and a 12-darter helped Durrant see off Mark Layton in the last 16 of the Classic. His 133.6 average was just a shade off the current world record holder Kyle Anderson's 134.8, achieved in 2015. But it was the Open where Duzza went all the way. The Teesside ace saw off Chris Landman in the final to claim his first crown on the island.
"There isn’t a lot left for me to do in the BDO other than repeating what I’ve done and won already, so to win the Isle of Man Open is brilliant,” Durrant said.
“There are some fantastic names on that trophy. I got a healthy prize for winning it and great points, so yeah, I’m dead chuffed.”
The 47-year-old reflected on the period between claiming his first Lakeside title in 2017 and defending it in January. Durrant believes his second year as world champion will be much smoother.
“I should have enjoyed being world champion but I took an awful lot on," he admitted.
“Then there was the whole BDO/PDC debate But this year I feel like I’ve addressed a lot of things – family, time, work, my game.
“I’m in a great place, practice is going fabulous. It’s just a case of continuing with what I’m doing now. Things are going well."
