Mario Robbe became the second player to earn a Tour Card at European Q-School, after a thrilling 5-4 win over Frantisek Humpula in the final.

Dutchman Robbe, who was knocked out by Danny Noppert in the last 32 yesterday, won eight matches to take the automatic Pro Tour spot on offer today in Hildesheim. Robbe beat Hannes Schnier and Till Meisner before a 5-1 win over much-fancied youngster Nico Blum. He then saw off Jose-Antonio Justicia-Perales and the Italian pair of Gabriel Rollo and Michele Turetta. Tytus Kanik was seen off 5-1 in the semi-finals, before Robbe's all-important meeting with Humpula.
It was the Czech thrower who started better in the final, breaking throw to go 3-1 up. But Robbe clung on, and a 121 checkout on the bull made it 3-3. The pair held throw as the game went into a tense final leg. Humpula left himself on 39 after 12 darts, but Robbe showed nerves of steel to wrap up a 15-darter and the match. He now joins the Pro Tour, while Humpula and the other 181 Q-School hopefuls reconvene tomorrow.
The European Q-School will play down to a winner on each day, to give four automatic Tour Cards. The remaining players earning ranking points. Ranking points are awarded with one point per win from rounds where there are no Byes onwards.
