Phil Taylor has opted not to play in the
World Series of Darts Finals in Glasgow at the end of next month.
'The Power' has been scaling down his commitments since the start of the year after announcing his intention to retire meaning we will only see the darting legend again in the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton and the World Championship as his last tournament.
He competed in the Champions League of Darts as he won the inaugural event last year but decided against competing in the World Grand Prix in Dublin recently and this now adds to the events he has opted out of which includes all Euro and Pro Tours this year which have extinguished any hope of him qualifying for the European Championship and Players Championship Finals.
This news comes as a surprise as such but not in another way with Taylor competing in all but the US Masters on the World Series tour this year but the fact he is scaling down his commitments means that it doesn't really come as a surprise.
This means that Gerwyn Price benefits as he was just outside of the rankings on the World Series Order of Merit and he will now compete in Glasgow for the title won for the last tow years by Michael van Gerwen, the world number 1.
