Jermaine Wattimena completed a brilliant debut win over Mervyn King and Ian White comfortably saw off debutant Josh Payne as the second evening begins at the World Grand Prix.

Wattimena gave King a nightmare start with him clinching the first set with three consecutive legs. Machine Gun has looked good this year and was deserving of his place in this tournament and he took it with both hands.
They returned for the second set, but he squandered nine darts at doubles giving The King a potential lifeline. This lifeline didn’t last long though; with the Dutchman coming back to level up the set and then claim the win after multiple missed chances at doubles for King.
Ian White came through comfortably in parts against Josh Payne. The Diamond started off the clash against the Gravesend native by winning the first set 3-1 with three 180’s to his name.
From there he lead in the second set but had to be put under the cosh by Payne who pulled his way back in despite White leading 2-1. Seven match darts came and went for the Stoke on Trent ace but he finally got over the line denying a late charge in the process.
