White has been in great form all year and lived up to his billing as the number one seed. Alongside that, as usual his doubling was superb with the Stoke ace hitting six out of eight on his doubles on the way to his win.
He had a high of a 121 checkout on the bull which was for the win. Taylor also hit the exact same checkout in the match but it’s White who takes the plaudits.
Gary Anderson his stablemate was also in emphatic form in his victory over Alan Tabern. He hit four 180’s and fifty five percent on the doubles with a 108 average.
Anderson will be looking to set a marker after losing out in the Grand Slam final last weekend. 'The Flying' Scotsman' has done just that and he will be pleased to progress to the second round.
There was also a win for Stephen Burton on stage two with the Ipswich ace edging out Jermaine Wattimena in one of the first shocks in Minehead.
Also Joe Cullen is through seeing off John Henderson in one of the tougher first round assignments. He produced a timely 110 checkout in the decider to see off the Highlander and claim a good victory.
