Established in 2015, the Finals event brings together the eight players who top the
World Series Order of Merit. They are seeded, while
PDC Order of Merit qualifiers, Tour Card qualifiers and international invites complete the field. All three tournaments staged so far have been won by Michael van Gerwen. The world number one edged out Peter Wright in the first two finals. Last year, he defeated Gary Anderson 11-6 to pick up the increased £200,000 top prize.
Glasgow's Braehead Arena has hosted all three World Series Finals so far. However, it now appears that it is on the move. Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung claims that the 2018 edition will be hosted at the Multiversum in Schwechat, near Vienna.
Established in 2011, the Multiversum can accommodate up to 3,000 people. It played host to the Austrian Grand Prix, which is part of the European Tour, in 2016 and 2017. It was rumoured that Schwechat was selected as the host venue ahead of Amsterdam. However, no official confirmation has been made as of yet.
