Rob Cross triumphed yesterday in the first Players Championship of 2025. 'Voltage' defeated Joe Cullen 8-3 in the final. For the 34-year-old Englishman, it was already the tenth Players Championship title of his career. With it, he is approaching the top 10 all-time most successful players at Players Championship tournaments.
For Cross it was already his second title this year, last month he was also the best at the Dutch Darts Masters in Den Bosch, a tournament of the World Series of Darts. Cross now ranks 11th all-time in terms of tournament victories at the Players Championship. He shares that 11th place with Colin Lloyd, Ian White and Raymond van Barneveld.
Unchallenged in first place is still Phil Taylor with 45 titles. He is followed by still active players such as Michael van Gerwen at 36 titles and Gary Anderson with 29 to his name.
Still in the top ten are Peter Wright with 22 titles, James Wade and Dave Chisnall with 18, Gerwyn Price with 17, Adrian Lewis and Simon Whitlock with 12 and Michael Smith with 11.
By the way, today marks the second Players Championship of the year. In Wigan, Rob Cross will then go in search of his second consecutive triumph.
