30 times perfection: Michael van Gerwen dominates the historic ranking and leads Phil Taylor by a wide margin

Michael van Gerwen remains the undisputed king of the perfect leg. The 37-year-old Dutchman now has thirty official nine-darters to his name in PDC tournaments and has thereby opened up a big lead over the field. No other player in PDC history has completed a leg in just nine darts as often.

With his total of thirty perfect legs, Van Gerwen sits well clear at the top of the ranking. His closest rival is the legendary Englishman Phil Taylor, who produced 22 nine-darters during his remarkable career. Although Taylor set the standard in the darts world for years, Van Gerwen has now pulled away decisively as the most prolific player when it comes to perfect legs.

Dave Chisnall is third with fifteen nine-darters. The Englishman has been among the tour’s top scorers for many years and has often been involved in spectacular matches. Notably, despite his high position on this list, Chisnall is still waiting for his first PDC world title.

Adrian Lewis follows with thirteen nine-darters. The two-time world champion was known in his prime for his smooth throw and immense scoring power. James Wade and Simon Whitlock have also reached double figures. Both players have recorded eleven perfect legs and are therefore part of a select group of darters who have thrown more than ten nine-darters.

With ten nine-darters, Raymond van Barneveld and Gary Anderson share the next spot. For Van Barneveld, it is yet another proof of his exceptional class across multiple decades. The Dutchman delivered countless memorable performances throughout his career, and the perfect leg was often part of that.

Anderson, who like Van Barneveld has been a PDC mainstay for a long time, has likewise underlined his immense talent several times with a flawless nine-darter.

The mark of nine perfect legs has now been reached by a group of five players. Michael Smith, Ian White, Ross Smith, Gerwyn Price, and Josh Rock all sit on nine official nine-darters in PDC competition.

The presence of Josh Rock particularly stands out. The Northern Irishman is still only at the beginning of his career and therefore has ample time to climb further towards the very top of this special ranking.

Although a nine-darter occurs more often these days than, say, twenty years ago, it remains one of the most impressive feats in darts. It requires not only maximum precision but also the ability to remain flawless under heavy pressure.
