Reigning World Champion Luke
Littler has achieved nearly every major milestone in darts, yet there remains
one elusive prize in the young teen’s life. The UK driving test theory. At just
18-years-old, Littler has failed his test for the fifth time.
Littler first revealed his struggle during his fourth
attempt online, posting an Instagram story that read “4TH time…and
counting.” Despite scoring 45/50 in the multiple-choice questions, Littler
failed narrowly on hazard perception, picking up 41 out of the require 44 marks
needed to pass. The post was light-hearted and gained traction online, with the
story coming up in some of the young talents post-match interviews over at the
Winter Gardens.
Since winning the
World Matchplay last weekend, Littler has
again tried and failed his theory test, this time improving in hazard
perception and hitting the pass mark of 44, but dropping to 41 on multiple
choice. He again took to social media with the caption “5th time and
counting.”
The continuous failure is a start contrast to the world no.2’s
ability on the oche. Littler recently became the youngest player to pick up the
‘Triple Crown’, winning the three biggest titles on the tour. His order of
merit prize money stands alone at over £1 million and has major sponsorship
deals with the likes of Xbox and Target.
Recently, Littler and social media star Angry Ginge took to
Googlebox, with his streamer friend poking at the teenager’s inability to pass
his test, “You can do all this, but you can’t pass your driving theory.”
Littler took it all in good humour.
His busy schedule hasn’t helped the world No.2, as recent
weeks have seen him flying all over the world for tournaments, visiting countries
such as Denmark, Poland and even the US. The relentless travel and competition
may explain why the theory revision books remain untouched.
Littler will be hoping its 6th time lucky for his
theory test. As for now, his dream car will have to remain in the hands of
others, while he relies on family and friends for rides.
