Last weekend, many of the PDC's top stars were in Munich for the 2025
German Darts Grand Prix. Although that tournament finished on Monday evening as Michael van Gerwen defeated
Gian van Veen in the final to claim
European Tour glory, not all of those who competed have had the easiest time getting home in the day's since.
Former European Championship winner
Ross Smith was among the field in Munich. After wins over
Jermaine Wattimena (6-4) and
Dave Chisnall (6-2), 'Smudger' was eventually defeated in the quarter-finals 6-3 by the tournament's runner-up, Van Veen. Although it was a positive performance from Smith in Germany, the Englishman has been left fuming by an airport disaster as he attempted to travel home.
"Today was a total disgrace," begins a post on his official
X (formerly Twitter) account by the furious 36-year-old. "Arrived early in Munich, queued over an hour because you had ONE person checking people in. Loads missed the flight, your gate staff couldn't care less and your "supervisor" refused to speak or give her name! Absolute joke!"
Smith also tags the airline in question as EasyJet. Hopefully, similar issues won't befall 'Smudger' or any of the competitors hoping to be in the mix this coming weekend in Graz as the PDC heads to Austria for the 2025 Austrian Darts Open, the fifth stop on this season’s Euro Tour calendar.
