Dimitri Van den Bergh has started well at the Masters. 'The Dreammaker' had little trouble with James Wade in the first round, winning 6-1 on Friday evening.
Van den Bergh looked back on the match afterwards with mixed feelings however. "I think that experience has showed me now, that I need to learn how to win ugly and I think today was an ugly win against one of the best players in the world," said the Belgian post-match.
The 29-year-old Belgian went out immediately in his opening match against Florian Hempel at the past World Darts Championship despite leading 2-0. "As soon as the Worlds is finished, it's focus on the new year so that's exactly how it is," he said.
"World Championship, is left in 2023. Now I'm playing in 2024 and I'll just change it around. Right now, I'm happy," Van den Bergh concludes optimistically.
Van den Bergh will take on Michael Smith at the last 16.
