Anderson, Van Barneveld, Beaton and Wade among early winners at Players Championship 14

The first round has begun at Players Championship 14 with Gary Anderson, Raymond van Barneveld, Steve Beaton and James Wade among those through to the second round.
Van Barneveld again took down Robert Grundy for a second day running 6-4 with an 89 average, while after reaching the final yesterday, Anderson was a 6-3 winner over Lukas Wenig with a 97 average.
James Wade put on a clinic of finishing as he saw off rising Dutch star, Gian van Veen 6-3 with an average just shy of 100. While Beaton defeated Stefan Bellmont 6-2 with a 100 average.
Other high averages include 101 and 102 from Martijn Kleermaker and Daryl Gurney, while Chris Dobey is the biggest name out so far losing out to Ricky Evans as the top 16 seeds get ready to start their campaigns.

- It seems odd that at the World Championship they have dancing ladies in hot pants and pom poms and yet the walk on ladies who were much more elegantly attired get removed from the scene.
