Aspinall seals dramatic comeback win over Noppert at World Grand Prix to set up Quarter-Final tie with Lukeman

Nathan Aspinall will face Martin Lukeman in the Quarter-Finals of the 2022 World Grand Prix after seeing off Danny Noppert with a miraculous comeback albeit in a tie blighted by issues with the crowd.

Noppert started the tie 2-0 up in sets and ahead in the third as he nearly made it an easy nights work. He pounced in the first after Aspinall squandered five darts for the set allowing the Dutchman to seal it in the decider.

In the second set, a 180 and double six in another decider handed him the two set cushion as he looked towards the finish but back came Aspinall going 2-1 down in sets.

He took out 100 to wrap up the fourth set and force another decider. But the crowd got on the back of Noppert and an 82 checkout saw Aspinall send it to a decider who tried to get the crowd going himself.

Noppert could not find a double though in the decider going 12 darts without. He finally got in on the 13th time of asking but Aspinall was away and in the distance.

Again the crowd affected Noppert as best of order was asked for and Aspinall sealed the win in another match which will ask questions about darting crowds affecting matches.
