Gerwyn Price turned on the style when it mattered most to see off Joe Cullen and reach the Quarter-Finals of the World Grand Prix where he will face Madars Razma.
Price reeled off six consecutive legs to complete a 3-2 sets win over Cullen after being 2-1 down with a 93 average and a high finish of 134.
Price hit double two to seal an opening hold and broke throw after Cullen missed six darts to hold. A 134 set up saw Cullen head towards 2-1 down with a break.
‘The Iceman’ hit a 180 and pinned double eight to seal the set. Cullen held to begin the second set on double four. A 50 checkout on double 10 saw Cullen double his lead as he headed towards a set back hitting double eight.
Price missed three darts to hold and Cullen hit a 100 checkout to go 1-0 up. Price missed 126 to hit back followed by three further darts which allowed Cullen to hit a 48 checkout to make it 2-0.
Price held on double 10 but Cullen was throwing for a 2-1 sets lead which he took. He missed 130 on double eight and with Price way back, he pinned four.
Price hit 48 to break a spell of Cullen dominance and he went one away from making it 2-2 in sets before hitting double 10 to take it.
Price led the deciding set with a 104 checkout which he followed with a 134 checkout using two double 20’s to go one away. Cullen missed 73 to stay in it and Price took aim on 88 hitting double seven to seal it.
