Nathan Aspinall is the inaugural winner of the PDC Home Tour after claiming a clean sweep to conclude a brilliant run for 'The Asp'.
Aspinall began the tournament seemingly with an ankle ligament injury but claimed two clean sweeps before then suffering his first defeat en route to the final. He began the night by seeing off
Jelle Klaasen in a 6-3 win with a 97 average and six 180's.
His big match was to come though against
Gary Anderson who was favourite going into tonight and furthered himself into that discussion after hitting a 109.2 average in a 6-2 win over
Jonny Clayton.
But Aspinall ended his unbeaten run after eleven matches in a narrow 6-5 win which proved pivotal in claiming the title. He hit a 106.4 average to Anderson's 101 in a thriller which lived up to the billing and included nine 180's.
The equation was simple going into the final game, if Aspinall wins, he became champion and if Clayton won, he handed the title to Anderson.
It was the former result though as he claimed a 6-4 victory with a 92 average, four 180's and 50 percent on the doubles.
After 43 nights of action, it is the former UK Open champion who is the winner and potentially only winner in the history of the
PDC Home Tour - which he can now add to his resume.
