Australia into World Cup of Darts final for first time in 10 years after ending England's hopes

Australia are into their first World Cup of Darts final in 10 years after ending the hopes of top seed, England in a double singles success for Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock, with the latter in the last final back in 2012.

A match seen as one of the best in the history of the tournament back then, it was Whitlock then accompanied by Paul Nicholson who suffered defeat in sudden death drama against England but alongside Heta, he will get the opportunity to finally seal the title against Wales.

It was 'The Heat' that laid the foundation for Australia's charge through to the final as he came from 3-1 down to defeat Michael Smith in a deciding leg 4-3 to get the first point on the board.

In the fifth leg, Smith made a vital mistake which led to Heta coming back into the tie. He busted 72 for the match after initially setting it up with a 130 and allowed Heta to make it 3-2.

This in turn got in Smith's head and after Smith couldn't pin a 120 checkout, Heta returned for double four to seal it.

It was then up to Whitlock to send them through and he did just that with a sublime display.

He whitewashed James Wade 4-0 with a 103 average, two 180's and 4/6 on his doubles with Wade averaging only 85 with no scores over 100+ and 0/2 on his doubles as England headed out.
