Belgian Darts Open 2026: Results, Preview, Schedule, Field, Draw, and Predictions

The Belgian Darts Open is due to take place between 20-22 March, 2026 at Oktoberhallen in Wieze, Belgium and will be the third of fifteen tournaments on the European Tour.

It follows along from opening European Tour events in Krakow and Gottingen and will feature a 48 player field with £35,000 going to the winner. Luke Littler will be defending champion.

Littler won the title last year defeating home hero Mike de Decker 8-5 in the 2025 final. He will be joined by Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price among others albeit as ever with Premier League commitments, this is subject to change with many of the top names withdrawing from the last two often late on.

Saturday sees many big names in action as we head to an important juncture in the tournament, the second round at the Belgian Darts Open.

In the afternoon it sees such ties as Ross Smith v Cameron Menzies, Chris Dobey v Dave Chisnall and finally Nathan Aspinall returns to the European Tour to take on Ryan Joyce.

Cristo Reyes was one of the most impressive players yesterday and he now tangles with James Wade to open the evening. Premier League forerunner Jonny Clayton faces Sebastian Bialecki. Luke Littler takes on a tough tie in Croatia's big Boris Krcmar, while Luke Humphries faces Dutch titan Dirk van Duijvenbode.

It will not be Michael Smith for MVG but Mickey Mansell to contend with after the Northern Irishman took down Smith yesterday. While Josh Rock will conclude the night and after his own Premier League woes he now has to face Kim Huybrechts.

The draw will be confirmed on Thursday, March 19 (at around 12pm) and will be confirmed here when announced.

The schedule is usually confirmed on the day the draw, but ordinarily sees the Qualifiers play the ProTour names before the top 16 enter the draw the day after.

For me the European Tour is often throw the form book out of the window and that is solely in regards to picking Luke Littler again for the Belgian Darts Open.

I don't see him playing and the same goes for Luke Humphries who both have taken more time off as of late. If they do they will be up there. But I see Jonny Clayton continuing that formline on towards the Belgian Darts Open.

I also see Gary Anderson having a good weekend in Wieze and also Wessel Nijman too will likely figure well here.

The popularity of the Belgian venues among the players is reflected once again in the field of participants, as the Euro Tour event in Belgium always seems to be slightly stronger than most of the other Euro Tour tournaments on the calendar.

We are not playing in Germany this time, which means Luke Littler is in the draw as well. After his overall victory at the Poland Darts Open, ‘The Nuke’ heads to Wieze as the clear favourite for the title. His biggest challengers could well be Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton, the two Welsh stars who have also been performing strongly in the Premier League Darts and who left an excellent impression at the UK Open.

Luke Humphries is currently going through a minor dip in form, but once he starts finding his doubles again he immediately becomes a serious threat to Luke Littler. Other names you can certainly put forward as contenders include Gian van Veen, Wessel Nijman, Gary Anderson and Nathan Aspinall.

Following the already spectacular Premier League Darts night in Antwerp, the PDC returns to Belgium for the second time in the 2026 season with the Belgian Darts Open.

To at least somewhat safeguard my prediction against the next potential wave of withdrawals, I have chosen Gerwyn Price as my favourite to win the title. “The Iceman” recently stated in an interview that he performs best when he can travel from tournament to tournament and remain in full flow, and that he currently sees no reason to take breaks. Of course, the fact that Price has been producing world-class form in the opening months of this season also plays no small part in that assessment.

The other names on my personal shortlist of favourites require little introduction. If Luke Littler is standing at the oche in Belgium, the path to the title will inevitably run through him. A similar statement could currently be made about Jonny Clayton, who has been dominating the Premier League with apparent ease.

Looking slightly further down the field, I’m following my gut feeling: for whatever reason, I can imagine Dirk van Duijvenbode enjoying a strong weekend in Belgium. I still vividly remember the Belgian Darts Championship 2020, when van Duijvenbode reached the semi-finals of a European Tour event for the first time. I sat in front of my screen both thrilled and slightly astonished as “The Titan” shook the arena in Hasselt with his extraordinary hardstyle walk-on. And who knows — perhaps those fond memories of Belgium still linger somewhere in the mind of the man now known as “Aubergenius.”

Following the Premier League evening in Antwerp, the PDC returns to Belgium, this time to Wieze, where the Belgian Darts Open is on the schedule. Unlike the tournaments in Germany, Luke Littler will also be competing here.

That immediately means the 19-year-old will once again top the list of favourites. Given that he will be skipping all the Euro Tour tournaments in Germany, he will want to perform well at the events he does compete in to qualify for the European Darts Championship. Partly for that reason, I expect the world champion to be the man to beat here, as so often.

But who could beat him? Of course, there are the usual names such as Luke Humphries, Gerwyn Price and Gian van Veen. All three have proven on multiple occasions that they can beat Littler and are therefore all among the favourites. Jonny Clayton is also in superb form at the moment and is a serious contender for the title.

Other names to watch out for are Wessel Nijman, who is steadily climbing the world rankings, Nathan Aspinall, always strong on the European Tour, and perhaps someone like Ross Smith.

Euro Tour action returns to Belgium, and so does Luke Littler, who absolutely loves a venture to Belgium, winning three of the four times competing there. He will be the number one favourite for more glory as he looks to defend the Belgian Darts Open title won two years on the spin.

The competition will not just let him pass, however. There will be some strong challengers for his crown. Gerwyn Price continues to come out on the wrong side in some remarkably tight battles against Littler. He will be hoping to maybe right those wrongs in Wieze with the Welshman in terrific form.

Along with him, Luke Humphries and Gian van Veen will be obvious threats for the title if they can get their game going. A motivated Stephen Bunting and Michael van Gerwen will be hoping to recover from a shambolic European Darts Trophy. Their hit and miss form do not fill me with confidence in predicting them to win the title.

I do not see any Belgian darters getting close to the title, but possible deep runs from outsiders like Wessel Nijman and Jermaine Wattimena are in line as they look to enjoy more positive weekends. As for the title, I am leaning towards more glory for the world champion.
