Phil Taylor, the legendary 16-time world darts champion, has revealed what might entice him to suspend retirement and return to the big stage.

The 64-year-old darter, who retired from the PDC circuit in 2018 and also quit the senior tour in 2024, indicated that an astronomical amount of money could still win him over. And if it's up to Taylor, that opportunity lies in Saudi Arabia. Taylor, suggested that if the PDC actually bet big on darts in Saudi Arabia, an unprecedented prize money of £10 million for the winner is not inconceivable.

“Would I come back? I would ask to be sent some darts and a dartboard, definitely. I think also, if it does go to Saudi Arabia, I wouldn’t put it past Barry – £10million for the winner. I think Saudi Arabia is that big of a sports country now, I think they could make it £10m. That’s how big I think Barry will make it. I’ll be doing something, trust me'', said the English darts legend in conversation with talkSPORT.

With the growing number of major sporting events migrating to Saudi Arabia, from Formula One to boxing to golf, it is not a crazy thought that the darts world could also strike a lucrative deal. Taylor, who made millions in his glory days, at least seems open to such a development.

Although the chances of a return remain slim, Taylor would need a completely new outfit if he were to take the plunge. Indeed, the darter revealed that he no longer owns a single trophy, dart set or board.

“I don’t even have a set of darts anymore or a dartboard. The grandkids have got my dartboard and my mates have got my darts. I’ve not got one trophy. My daughter has them all, and my family and friends have them. You can’t eat trophies. So, I’m not too bothered. You have to clean them, so I’ve given them to somebody else.''

With as many as 85 major titles to his name, Taylor is widely regarded as the best dart player of all time. A return would be sensational, but whether it actually happens will depend on financial developments in the world of darts. For now, Taylor seems to be mostly enjoying retirement - but as he says himself, for ten million pounds, he can be tempted.

Phil, you are a legend. I suggest you get your own board and darts, and reconsider,as you couldn't beat anyone on the seniors tour, and it sounds sadly, like you're after 1 final payout. Stick to retirement, and let us all remember you for the genius you were
