Brentwood School has officially launced a co-curricular Darts Programme, which will see sixth form students give the opportunity to take part in the new weekly timetabled event, the first scheme in the UK.
As darts becomes more popular in the UK, massively helped by the 'Littler effect', more younger people are getting an urge to play the game. Brentwood are making this possibility a lot easier for them, with 90-minute classes on Tuesday morning taking place to refine their darting skills. The scheme will climax with a Brentwood Scholl Darts Championship, with PDC President Barry Hearn on hand to give out the trophy to the eventual winner.
"I truly believe that this could be the start of something special," said Dave Wright, Brentwood School Head of Darts. "It has already created such a positive culture and hype in the school - the 'Luke Littler Effect' has transformed the game and inspired a generation. We only had space for 18 Sixth Form students, who are planning and leading the sessions themselves."
Two students by the names of Jack and Jenson have aided Wright in making this possible, with Jenson hoping that this can encourage more schools to follow in suit. "We're doing things other schools could only dream of being able to do," Jenson said. "Brentwood Bullseyes are laying down the foundations for global darts in schools."
