To start the tie, Szaganski took the opening leg. But it was all Barney from there as he reeled off three legs in a row only missing one dart at double throughout the entire set as he sat on a 98.6 average. He continued to run riot as he reeled off three straight legs to double his lead and go one set away from the next round.
But Barney was set to hang around for a little bit longer. He fired in a timely 13-darter on double 14 to edge the third set and despite Van Barneveld's excellence, he was left frustrated and annoyed at his inability to finish off the tie.
But with a 96 checkout on his familiar double 18 to start off, he looked to head towards the finish albeit Szaganski sent it right to the conclusion at 2-2. All for Van Barneveld to seal the deal with an 80 checkout on double 10.
