After Florian Hempel's incredible win over Dimitri van den Bergh, Martin Schindler also anchored German hopes home on the penultimate night before the Christmas break at the PDC World Darts Championship.

It was a strong display from Schindler who saw off Jermaine Wattimena who defeated Fallon Sherrock in the opening round. It was a 3-1 sets win though from 'The Wall' who held firm to defeat the Dutchman.

In the opening set, the German number two had a strong start with a 97.5 average and 3/4 on the doubles as he took it 3-1. He further strengthened his grip with another dominant foray 3-1 to go one away from the next round in double quick time.

But resolve then came from Wattimena. Schindler wired 145 for the match on double 20 and Wattimena returned for double 10 to edge the decider and save his skin. In this set, he also landed a terrific 170 checkout.

But this set back was a consolation in the context of the tie as he couldn't pin 68 to save his skin and Schindler sat on 50 sealed the deal on double 16 on his first match dart to go through and he will return like Hempel after Christmas.
