William Borland had the eyes of the darting world on him during Friday evening as he took to the oche and produced a stunning nine-darter to deny Bradley Brooks in the decider of their tungsten tussle at the PDC World Darts Championship.

Borland spoke afterwards and discussed his mindset in hitting the nine-darter and summed up his emotions.

"Obviously buzzing to get the win and to hit the nine-darter is absolutely unbelievable so I'm really happy," said Borland post match.

"I just went 15 darts or less and you win the match. When the 177 went in because I missed it on the European Tour against Joe and I was like don't repeat that and when the first one went in, I was like go for it."

This also meant though that his good friend Nathan Rafferty wouldn't get his Tour Card chance after all.

"I knew going into the game that me and Nathan (Rafferty) are very good friends - he was in the right frame of mind in that he wanted me to get beat. I'm not going to apologise. Nathan's good enough to go to Q-School and get a card so I wish him all the best for that."
