Canada are the first country through to the Quarter-Finals at the World Cup of Darts after a convincing clean sweep win over New Zealand.
Jeff Smith and Matt Campbell looked a formidable duo on the opening day dumping out the Republic of Ireland and will now face Belgium or Latvia next up.
They secured the early lead with Smith easing past Haupai Puha in the opener on Day Two of the World Cup of Darts. This saw 'The Silencer' average 88 with a high checkout of 100, in fact it was his doubling which saw him through with 36% hit compared to 1/7 (14%) from Puha who impressed yesterday on his doubles.
As a result, it was left up to either Matt Campbell to win through or Cody Harris to force the pairs decider. To begin their tie, it was Harris who held the advantage with a break of throw in the form of an 80 checkout to put them into a 2-0 lead but a 55 checkout in the following leg saw Campbell halve the deficit and he levelled up proceedings from there.
A pivotal break followed once more for the CDC standout as he pinned a 25 checkout last dart in hand with Harris missing the chance to hold.
From there a 13 darter on double 16 with Harris well back concluded a clean sweep for Canada who are through to the Quarter-Finals.
