After the final of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace, the Ballon D'Art was also awarded. This went to the brand new world champion Luke Littler who, with 76, threw the most 180 scores of the entire tournament. The trophy was presented by Scottish cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy.

Sir Chris Hoy is a true legend of cycling. The Brit won no fewer than seven medals at the Olympics (six gold) on the track. Late last year, however, he came out with the shocking news that he has metastatic prostate cancer and has only a few years to live.

The 48-year-old Scot attended the final of the World Darts Championship on Friday night. For every 180 thrown at the Worlds this year, main sponsor Paddy Powers donated £1,000 to Prostate Cancer UK, an organization that researches prostate cancer and wants to raise awareness among people. Plus, for every nine-darter a further £60,000 was donated, meaning thanks to Christian Kist and Damon Heta hitting perfect legs, the Paddy Power donations were upped by £120,000. "It's a fantastic cause and it's great to see that darts has got behind it with Paddy Power, " Hoy told Sky Sports ahead of the final. "Fantastic to see so many 180s being thrown and the nine-dart finishes."

More than just by the momey raised though, the initiave at the darts is helpful in other ways. "Obviously, raising money is important, but actually raising awareness is equally as important," Hoy explains. "We're trying to reach a real target audience here and trying to get men to be aware of the risks of Prostate Cancer and to go onto the online checker. It takes 30 seconds to check your risk, and if you are high risk, go to your GP and get tested. It's really simple, really easy, but the crucial thing is checking early and catching early can save lives. That's the message we're trying to get across."
