Chisnall claimed six points from six but it still went down to the final game despite victories for the St Helens ace against Scott Waites (5-2), Jan Dekker (5-0) and finally the aforementioned Welshman.
But a late flourish from Scott Waites who claimed a double win against Worsley and Jan Dekker both by scorelines of 5-1 saw Chisnall needing to win his final game and after losing the first leg, he breezed through despite it not being pretty average wise.
He only averaged 75 but had the important statistic of 44 percent on the doubles which saw him win 5-1. As a result though, he becomes the first player who was favourite to begin the night who has come through into the next round.
Tomorrow sees the first outright female Tour Card Winner and multiple Lakeside World Champion, Lisa Ashton headline with Ross Smith, Mickey Mansell and Geert Nentjes also involved as they aim to join Chisnall, Jamie Lewis and Luke Woodhouse in the next round.
